November 7, 2020 The Southport Wooden Boat Show is held annually and runs from 10 AM until 4 PM. You will find all kinds of wooden boats displayed in the water, on land and around the historic Old Yacht Basin. Professional judges will award prizes for best boats in a variety of categories and you can vote for your favorite boat for the People’s Choice Award. You can enjoy yummy prize winning chowder and shrimp & grits, educational discussions & displays of the maritime heritage of the area, arts and crafts and live entertainment throughout the day. Kids events will include Nauti-kids where they will be able to build their own model boats and sail them. They can also make fish prints, and take part in activities provided by the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher and the NC Maritime Museum, Southport. There will be demonstrations along the waterfront of shrimping and net mending, and Southport waterfront boat tours will be available. Visit the website above for more details and schedules.
