April 2020 - Postponed until Saturday, November 14, 2020 The free festivities start on Friday from 5 PM until 8:30 PM at Packet Pickup and Onsite Registration. The Oak Island Lighthouse Run/Walk is a fun and enjoyable event for all fitness levels. The run courses showcase the best scenery on the North Carolina Coast — with salt marshes, the Atlantic Ocean, beautiful beaches, footbridges and a lighthouse along the way. The overall and age group awards are prints by renowned coastal artist Ricky Evans of The Ricky Evans Gallery in Southport. Half Marathon begins at 7:30 AM, 10k at 8:00 AM, 5k at 8:15 AM and 1 Mile at 8:20 AM. Arrive early to enjoy and participate in Chalk Art at the Start from 6 AM - 7 AM. There will also be a race day stretch at 7 AM and again at 7:45 AM, led by yoga instructor Ilene Evans. This is an event of the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by Dosher Memorial Hospital. Check the run website for additional details and link to register.
