The beaches are the main attraction in Oak Island and Bald Head Island, N.C., for good reason. Maritime Museum and Waterfront Park, take a carriage ride or walk along the Southport Trail to see 25 historic sites. Nearby, Fort Anderson is an interesting place to visit as well. Oak Island and Bald Head Island both have historic sites to tour as well as nature trails to explore.
The region’s year-round mild weather means that outdoor activities are very popular here.
